So, we’ve looked at about 10 houses. The first day we saw one that we absolutely loved, but they wanted a little bit too much for it. And then a contractor friend of ours noticed on our 2nd visit that the floor around the toilet on the 2nd floor would need to be replaced, which could be very expensive, up to $10,000, and we wouldn’t know until we started doing the work. So we tearfully said goodbye to that one.
Last weekend we saw another one we loved. A little smaller, a little less money, but completely rehabbed. We’ve been negotiating a price since Sunday, and tomorrow, we’re going to actually put down money.

The pre-approval letter came this week. My credit came back better than I thought it would. Pretty cool. I suppose we’ll start looking at houses any day now. Our agent is my fiancee’s aunt, which has its benefits and drawbacks.

I’d like to buy a home this spring, before the $8,000 credit runs out. Yesterday we stopped by the credit union to see how much we could be pre-approved for. We’ll meet with them again on Saturday I think. My credit is getting better, buy my fiancee’s is outstanding. I’ll keep updates coming.
