i even challenged myself. i must do this every day until the end of the year or else. the challenge has been motivating. i’ve done it every day since.
coming up with related goals has helped too:
a motivating goal for sit ups is to get a four-pack. i’m not that far from it. i could see a little bit of the top of my abs. if i built more muscle, i’m sure it would be more visible.
a motivating goal for push ups is to eventually be able to do a hindu push up. those are pretty badass. that’s kind of a long way off. i still can’t even do a proper push up, i.e., i do them all girlie with knees down. but! i have realized that it’s all about the abs. it’s about the abs and the practice. i’d like to be able to do a proper push up by the end of the year. we’ll see how that goes.
and an ultimate goal with this is to have the core and upper body strength to have a truly powerful body. i want to be able to do handstands and back flips and pull ups and all the things i think humans should be able to do.
getting into running has helped also. it drives me to think about myself as an athlete, and athletes are strong and agile. this will become my reality.
