learn french fluently

Blah, still struggling with this. I never improve enough. I am going to watch an episode of Six Feet Under every day now, with French dubbing and English subs, so I can just get used to regularly hearing spoken French. It’s my listening comprehension that I really want to improve.

I’ve not been practising my French much lately. In fact I’ve started learning Mandarin Chinese and a little bit of Swedish too. I don’t know, I’m the same with languages as I used to be with writing stories. I’ll start one and feel really strong about it, then move onto something else not long after. In the end, nothing gets finished. Still, I’m hoping to get a job abroad soon, and if I can get one in France or Switzerland or something I might be able to improve my French a lot.

je peux parler en francais un petit peu, mais je veux etre fluent dagnammit! I went to France this year and got to practise a bit. One thing I noticed is that they are a lot easier to understand in the south than in the north. When I was in Pas-de-Calais and Paris the accents were much harsher and seemed faster too. In Bordeaux, Marseille, Toulon, Nice, etc, there was a softer feel, kind of Spanishy almost. So if I’m going to go live in France for a while and become fluent, perhaps I’d prefer to go to the south. Just a shame it’s more expensive in that area.
