I recieved a free guitar as a prize for a contest last year, but never have learned how to play it. I got as far as playing “Ode to Joy” without too much difficulty, but once chords were introduced in the how-to book I got discouraged because I had trouble keeping my fingers in the right places.
Every few weeks I see the guitar, neglected in the corner of my room and nag myself to pick it up again. I never do, so maybe putting it down on paper will change that.
Besides adding “and guitar” to my list of ‘instruments I can play’ (currently: violin), I also think this will give me a better understanding of music. I’ve been in choir for 5 years and I played violin for 7, but notes and chords have never really clicked with me for some reason.
