no really. I was advised to gather a list of coping activities for each of my top 5 bad emotions…

for example,

feeling hurt

go listen to songs I love
10 deep breaths
read a fantasy book – it takes me out of myself
exercise – physical pain helps overcome emotional pain for me
do logic problems online – thinking distraction.

feeling lonely

call my brother
go play with my kids
watch a movie all by myself – embrace the aloneness
write in my journal – this helps me out of my loneliness because I talk it out, whereas writing in my journal when I feel hurt would only get me all worked up and more hurt.

you get the idea.

It’s tricky and fun and challenging and at the end of the day, I can take responsibility for my own happiness.
