Whee!

Draft # 1 is complete. 65,376 words, which at 250 words to a published page would be 262 pages. In double spaced 12 point Times New Roman font we have 215 pages which I have printed off.

Finally! I was not as focused as I was during NaNoWriMo, but i did finish the thing!

Goal Complete.

Now, I can put the novel in a box (done) and in the closet (tonight) and not think about it for two months before I come back to it and start revising.

Next Up: Short Stories!

Got a good 600 words in so far today and the actual process of writing is giving me ideas on different ways to take this novel and close it out. One has the protagonist rotting away in prison, another way has him getting out somehow.

The second way requires many more words than the first way, though.

I’m leaning towards the first way. :) I can always change the ending a dozen times in editing. It’s not like the whole novel won’t require a re-write anyway.

I wrote 300 words on my novel this afternoon. It was the first bit of writing in about a month. I know that I’m over 63,000 words and with the standard assumption of 250 words makes a page that brings me to around 252 pages of text.

Not bad. But I need to start making progress again.

My goal or resoultion for 2007 is to finish the novel I began during NaNo. I have 65,000 words written, so really I’m 10,000 to 20,000 words away from being done. I’ve just slowed down to a crawl and I need to start walking again.

As of yesterday I am 60,000 words in on my novel (sad, only 10k words since NaNo ended). I’m still chipping away at it. I see where to possibly go to aim towards an ending. That’ll feel good.

Meanwhile I’ve started a short story as well.

I had a great day yesterday and wrote more than 2000 words on my novel. Today is going a bit slow so far, but there are words going on to a page. Just feels like a struggle today. I want to finish this thing so I can work on some short stories for a little while…and to finish.

I finished my 50,000 words of National Novel Writing Month and I’ve made good progress on the novel. But the novel isn’t finished yet, so I can’t count this goal as “complete”.

But it’s coming along!

My NaNo novel is up to 17,000 words. It’s been a slow day today, but I hope that between today and tomorrow I can push it to 20,000 since I won’t be able to write on friday.

Like quite a few other people here I have started a novel with NaNoWriMo. I’ve had this goal for a while and was no closer to starting.

I have just over 9000 words before I start work today, so I’ll definitely hit 10,000.

Yay for all of us giving it a shot!
