I am getting reasonably good. In the village where I live I speak the local creole, fluently. So most people don’t want to speak Dutch with me (as I don’t speak Dutch as well as I do the native language) but when I am in the capital city or anywhere else in the country I can do pretty good.
I have even had long drawn out conversations (on limited subject matter – but it is something).
I am hoping to test at an Intermediate MID or High in October and then make it official.

So, I have less then 18 days to “learn dutch” but I have this feeling it might just take a life time.
I am hoping against hope that by hearing it every day I will be able to speak it better!
I will have to wait to see

A girl at my gym approached me to say that she thought I was a great runner for someone who wasn’t 50 lbs!
And she just happens to speak Dutch.
So almost every night at the gym I get to practice a little…
Ik ben klaar!

I have been studying but I really didn’t put much into it this weekend. I need to work harder at this if I am ever going to be able to speak Dutch before I get to Suriname

So, I am now a 62 days away from moving to Suriname… and I struggling with the Dutch!
Okay, so the grammar rules are easy enough. I know how to congregate, and how to do past tense (sort of), make nouns plural, count to 100, tell time and ask simple questions.
I can recognize it when I hear it. I can recognize it when I read it.
BUT I CAN NOT SAY IT!
What is with this pronunciation thing? It is impossible! I am going to be Surinamese MUTE!

I am moving to Suriname in Two months!
So far I am studying Dutch, and the grammar is pretty standard and comparable to English… BUT YIKES… How do I pronounce this stuff?
