I just got the food on the shelves all organized by type of meal you make with them. Also went through and tossed everything that was out of date on there and in the refrigerator, only a grocery bag full, which isn’t too bad. Some of it I tossed because www.stilltasty.com said it was okay, but it smelled funny. It’s much easier to see what I have now, and I got motivated to cook again after doing it.

Went through my entire room recently, and organized everything I had in it. I have no superfluous stuff in my bedroom, now. Also had the husband take the 2 bags of clothing to the Paws N Claws. What a difference from the days when we had many boxes at a time.
Big pile of papers filed now. Asked husband to shred papers, got mine squared away, minus a few I am keeping out to deal with soon.
This got my husband all fired up to sort and deal with his papers too.He shredded and burnt the ones that were due, and went through a lot of his old files as well. Lots of progress made, and less backlog than the last few times.

Having company coming is a great incentive to get off our butts and make the place pretty again.
I cleared off my desk yesterday. I have papers to go through from it, again, but it’s mostly filing and things to sort. I didn’t realize how much it was contributing to my overwhelm until I got it cleared.
Cleaning closets again, for more room and things to sell, just to lighten the load for eventual moving. Every time this gets done, it’s easier and faster.
On the agenda for today:
Clean refrigerator (in dismal shape)-done
Clean freezer (just as bad)-done ((some stuff I’m not sure if it’s freezer burned or not, so we will try to eat it over the next few weeks and then start a sticker system to keep track of how old stuff is)
Rinse and trash all recyclables-done
Get AC out of the window already ( it’s November!)-done
Wash dishes-done minus 3 or 4, good enough
Sweep bedroom-nope
Garbage-done
Also, I think I am finally ready to sell/auction off my fabric collection, which has been tucked away for years. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good market in which to do this, apart from Craigslist and Ebay?
UPDATE: Not bad at all. Now for some dinner made with stuff from my now lovely fridge and freezer!
Gotten from my mom’s closet purge: excellently soft flannel sheets that will replace the ones that are just about dead for us, just in time. Not exactly a declutter, but we did avoid buying anything and the others sheets will be getting deep-sixed, which should count for something.
In spite of having gained and lost the same 5 lbs repeatedly since April of this year but no others, there were a good number of articles that were too big that fit fine 6 months ago. Not just a bit loose, either. Really baggy, almost falling off loose. Bizarre.
End result:
Consigned to donation:
Five dresses
Two shirts
One jacket
One hoodie
One skirt
Two pairs of shoes that didn’t fit
In need of repair as soon as I find thread to match, which will be a real bitch for at least two of them:
One sweater
Two skirts
Two sundresses
Getting donated as soon as I find a replacement for it, since it still sort of fits: One long black stretch velvet skirt
In need of dry cleaning:
Two dresses with random stains on them that weren’t there when I hung them up
Now needed: At least 3 winter dresses, 2 winter skirts, two more pairs of shoes for bad weather, and a couple of new bras.
Did tons of dishes, did garbage/recycling and took some of the crap that has been languishing on the front porch to the dumpster too. Also wiped down counters and stove.
