Why not? Actually, both my mom and dad came from farm families and my mom still owns a farm and my dad owns half of a farm. The thing about owning land is that it can never be wiped out like a stock, so it would offer diversification in the complete portfolio I hope to build. It is also an asset that helps pay for itself by appreciation, like any real estate. I work in agriculture, so it just seems to fit.
