I haven’t played in a while. I think I might take music lessons here at school next year – I think how it works is you can choose to take them for credit or not; they cost money if you want credit but I think otherwise they’re free. I’ll have to look into that.

My dad is getting me a violin! He’s actually trading for it, making a website for the person who owns the shop. In any case, it’s a decent violin I hear, and I’ll be able to take it to school so I can start playing again. Yay! I hope I can find someone at school to give me lessons – it motivates me to practice, at the very least.
Well, I gave back my violin yesterday =( I have my sister’s right now though. Unfortunately, I had to give back all my music too, since the books all were the school’s.
I found out there are practice rooms I can use next year, and hopefully I can find someone to give me lessons (it makes me practice more, knowing someone’s going to be listening to me playing every week). Unfortunately, I won’t have a violin then. So I still don’t have it all figured out yet.
I realized I’ve only been playing for 4 months (plus a few days). I feel like it’s been longer than that.
I haven’t updated this in awhile.
Well, I’ve gotten into shifting already, which is… alright. I really need to work on my vibrato more. I haven’t been practicing as much as when I first started.
School ends in about 6 weeks, and then I’ll have to give them back their violin. I’ll have to figure out if my sister is going to take hers with her when she’s in England this summer. It’s a really good violin (she’s a really good player) though and I’m afraid I’d harm it somehow (although I don’t know what I could do worse than breaking a string or two).
I haven’t even thought about the situation in the fall with school. I don’t know if there’s somewhere I can practice (that goes for flute, too). I don’t know how much the people in my dorm would appreciate hearing my questionable violin skills and somewhat less questionable flute-playing.
I’ve already finished the first book I got after only two weeks! Granted, it included a lot about how to read music (which I already know), but still! I didn’t think I’d be doing this well already.
It’s only been a few days, but I think I’m doing really well so far =) It’s exciting! I’ve wanted to do this for so long.
So I started my independent study today, borrowed a violin from the school… It helps a lot I think that I already know how to read music; I imagine it’s hard to learn an instrument if you don’t… Eep, I’m excited! So I’ll get to work on it in school for about 45 minutes 3-4 days a week and I’m going to work on it at home too.
I got an independent study form yesterday and started writing the proposal today. Hopefully it’ll get approved and when the second semester starts [on Jan. 29] I’ll be spending my 7th period class learning how to play the violin =)
I asked Mrs. Kille today if she’d do an independent study with me today. So that’s a start. I guess I’ll have to do all the paperwork and stuff before the semester ends.
I have a study hall the second semester, so I’m thinking maybe I can work on this in an independent study.
