Glasgow accepted 4.April without funding
St. Andrewsrejected 24.April
Helsinki accepted 10.April without funding (though there’s no tuition charge)
Astromundus accepted 25.May, offered funding 13.June
The Astromundus acceptance is a bit depressing. I’m not sure what I would’ve picked if I had it & WSU on the table at the same time. I am really excited to be moving to Washington, I do really like WSU, and I think it’s probably better career-wise. But, I did really really want to live outside of the country for a while, and school seems like the easiest way to do it. And man, their funding offer was really good.
Ah well. As my sister pointed out, there’s always post-docs.
No idea what’s up with Edinburgh. It’s June. They sent me multiple rejections for various fellowships but never actually an admissions decision from the school. Oh well, I’m not attending in any case.

So yeah, I apparently didn’t get the SUPA fellowship. I only know this because the professor from Glasgow emailed me and said “I saw you didn’t get the fellowship. Sorry. Still want to come here?” It would’ve been nice if the fellowship people had actually notified me themselves…
So whatever. No Scotland. I also visited Wyoming even though I haven’t actually been admitted yet, and kind of hated it. But I absolutely loved WSU when I visited, so I gave them my acceptance already. Theoretically I should withdraw my other applications but I’m still curious as to whether I’d actually have gotten in, so I’m not gonna.

I remember seeing something from Wyoming saying they’d be notifying admitted students in February & inviting them to visit in March. That hasn’t happened so I assume I didn’t get in, but they couldn’t be bothered to send me an email?
Hawaii rejected me via snail mail and not email which is why I didn’t see it until now. My parents opened the mail for me while I was gone but apparently never got around to emailing me about it.
I have to answer WSU by April 16. My visit there is March 30-31. I have no idea when I’ll be hearing from the international schools.

No news is good news? (I mean, really, I wouldn’t even be getting rejections this early.) Still, freaking out. I left the country for a distraction and it’s not working!

Crap crap crap. I only have two weeks left?
Okay, so I don’t actually have that much to do. I’ve finished nearly all my applications. Helsinki is just waiting to be mailed once I get around to getting copies of my diploma. And then I also have a short app for two more fellowships for Edinburgh, which are my main concern. OH and this textbook list for WSU I need to mail before I forget!
And then there’s Geneva. I haven’t done anything for it yet, because it’s been such a pest that I just focused on getting everything else done first. But now, if I want to have it ready to submit before I leave, I really need to get around to writing that essay. It really shouldn’t be that hard but I’ve just been working a lot and since they won’t post any info until after January 1 I can’t be exactly sure of what they’re looking for. I could always do it when I get back, but I don’t like submitting things that close to a deadline. So… I am still totally undecided. Still, worst-case scenario, I will have applied to ten other schools once Helsinki is submitted (and I do still have my Amsterdam admission from last year), so it’s not super critical to get one more in.

Geneva has been causing some major issues for me. They won’t answer my questions and I can’t even submit my application until after January 1 (but before March 15). I will be traveling out of the country from January 2 – March 11, so you can see what that’s problematic.
Work left to do: Geneva essay(s?), Helsinki essay if I choose to do it, and a surprise second essay for UCSC that was never mentioned until I was halfway through the online application (a “personal history” statement, which is complete bullshit).
WSU would’ve been submitted already but there was a little error in their online form (it won’t let me select fall 2012 as the entry date, it still says 2011) so I was waiting for the month to change to see if they update it. If not, I’ll just submit it this week anyway; they’ll figure it out. All of the others (Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Wyoming) are done, I just have to actually fill out the online forms, which I’ll probably finish by the end of the weekend.
No idea when I’ll be getting my PGRE score =/

I just have two essays left to write (and the bulk of the work has already been done for that anyway), and then I’m going to go back to the beginning of the pile and start submitting. I got a bunch of other paperwork done (transcripts sent, diploma translated, and so on) so I’m feeling pretty productive right now. I am totally and terribly avoiding writing these two emails that I really really need to send though.

Submitted my first application today. Of course, when I uploaded the file, I spelled “application” wrong in the filename. Oy.
Organized by due date:
Astromundus
Hawaii
U. Washington
UCSC
Washington State
Wyoming
Edinburgh
[Helsinki]
Glasgow
St. Andrews
Geneva
I’ve been running into some problems with Geneva so they may end up getting booted off the list unfortunately =/
