I was decent with this in September, atrocious in October, better in November, but still not great. December is not looking too good so far. I think the winter is going to be rough. I need to get serious if I want to keep running outside. At least I know I’ll be forced to keep climbing because there are other people involved with that (including my roommate).
I have not biked at all this fall and so I will probably have lost the ability once again by the time it is nice enough outside to go.

Climb, run, tackle, cycle, rinse, repeat. 4 months ago

Hmm. I’ve been really good at this this month (and was sort of decent during July). Probably out of fear, because rugby starts in two days. Now the problem will just be to continue to run once school starts…
I guess most people would count rugby as exercising regularly, but I don’t, really. We’re actually supposed to go to the gym 4 times a week outside of practice, and while it’s probably technically possible to fit that into my schedule, it’s a tight squeeze. So I’m hoping to run twice a week in addition to rugby, and fingers crossed that I might have time to climb maybe once a month.
I’m not sure yet if I want to do more long runs or interval training… I’ll probably end up with a mix of both. There’s apparently a running club at my school but it’s a little intimidating, to be honest.
Almost all of my friends are avid cyclists and we have a bike share at school so I’ll probably end up on a bike ride or two during the fall (something I really need to make sure happens, or else I’ll forget how to do it again).

I’m planning on getting some of my teammates to have a set time to do what we refer to just as “the circuit” (which is mostly running) when the semester starts. Aside from just looking goofy doing it by myself, it’s a lot easier to get up and put those sneakers on when you know someone is meeting you. I’d also really really like it if I could find a climbing partner who’s willing to go with me once a week, but time constraints will probably prevent that.
If I’m lucky enough to find someone at home who is willing to go with me, I’d like to do a lot of climbing during the rest of the summer. I just learned how to ride a bike, so since I’m still sort of mastering that I’ll be more likely to get out there and do it. Also I could conceivably bike to the track in my town, which is where I’d prefer to run. I don’t think I’ve run a single time yet this summer! :-O I need to step it up or else I am going to be dying at preseason in August.

During November I ran once.
During December I ran twice.
Oof.
10’s the magic number for January.

Failing miserably at this. 12 months ago

One would think that once I stop having rugby I’d go to the gym more, since I have more time, but it kind of always ends up being an all-or-nothing approach. If I don’t have a lot to do, I don’t do anything, so when I have all day to find time to go to the gym, it’s very easy to keep putting it off.
I’m still trying to find the best way to fit this in with everything.

During the month of September, I ran 5 times. Yikes. Of course, that’s in addition to rugby 4x a week.
During October, I ran 7 times (plus rugby). 5 of those times were in the last two weeks of the month.
Rugby is over after this week, so for November I’m aiming for 9 runs (I’m assuming I’m not going to run at home while I’m off for Thanksgiving).

During the month of July, I went to the gym 13 times, which comes in at just under 3x a week. Hopefully I can keep this up for the next two weeks before I go back to school (at which point I’ll have rugby).

Well, I went to the gym twice this week and twice last week. I only went once the week before, so I guess that’s progress? Here’s to at least three times next week!
It’s just insanely annoying to deal with having to get rides to & from the gym, since I can’t drive at the moment. Argh.

Hmm, so I think I may change to running Monday/Wednesday/Friday evenings. Running in the mornings on the weekends is just not working out for me. Also I’d like to keep going to kickboxing on Tuesdays, but for one reason or another, I haven’t gone the past 3 weeks. I think I might get a job down in the complex where the grocery store that I go to is, so I’d be walking there more often, but we’ll see how that goes.

Hmm, so my schedule/plan is now:
Tuesdays – kickboxing class in evening (although I’ve had to miss the past 2)
Fridays – gym with one of my roommates in evening (usually running)
Sunday – run outside in the mornings (this is not going to be fun when it’s like, snowing, but the gym’s not open on weekend mornings. i guess i’ll cross that bridge when i come to it)

I think I might try and get to the gym another day, probably Wednesday evenings… probably without my roommate, although it is easier to get myself there if she’s going too. I might not be able to go every week because sometimes other things come up… I also plan to the Thursday kickboxing class when I don’t have something else to do (which is rare, since everything happens on Thursday evenings here, for some reason).
I also tend to go to the grocery store on Thursdays, which is about a 1.2-mile walk, round trip.
