Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

I’m re-adding this goal to my list. I don’t have any time during the year to do anything, basically, because of school. But it’s summer now, and while I’m still working – a lot – I have a bit more time. I feel myself dreading doing anything other than laying around my house though. I actually thought one day a couple weeks ago “I wish my friends would stop texting me to hang out with me. Those jerks.” I instantly realized that was totally ridiculous, but still.

The past two weekends I have hung out with one of my friends that I wasn’t seeing very much. Hopefully I can keep it up.

Well, I think I’ve been “getting out” a lot more this summer. I work outside, and like 4-5 days a week. I don’t know how much this counts, but it is out, and I do interact with a lot of people there. Also, I go to the park 3-4 mornings a week to run. And I go to my best friend’s house a lot, but that’s been pretty much a constant over the past few years. I had some other friends over tonight, which was great. I wasn’t “out” exactly, although I was out of my room, just not out of the house :P But the point was that I was doing something that I normally do.
I’m not sure if I really need to keep this on my list or not. I’m going away to college next week, which is certainly “out”! So I think I’ll check it off for now, and if I end up spending too much time in my room at school and not trying new stuff, then I shall add it again.

One of my friends who lives out of town is coming to see me on Saturday. Yay!

I’ve been getting out a lot more recently. I don’t remember every little thing I’ve done, but I did go to the mall today.

I went and got ice cream yesterday with a few of my friends after practice… It was nice, sitting at a picnic table, eating ice cream. It wasn’t too warm out. None of them live in the same town as I do, so we don’t really see each other much outside of practice.

I think I might be going to a Phillies game next week with my best friend/former boyfriend. I’ve never been to a baseball game before… so hopefully that works out.

I went out today with my mom. We went shopping, and then had dinner at Panera Bread. Shoes and soup – an excellent combination!
We also went to the gym together earlier this morning.

I went for a walk with my mom on Sunday.
Two of my friends came over today, and we went to Walmart and they came back to my house for some delicious organic spinach pizza. So I wasn’t really out of the house, but I was with other people, so…
I should go for walks more often. It’s gotten really nice out this week. I just feel silly going by myself, and if I take my dog she’s just stopping and sniffing every 3 feet.

I went to my grandmother’s last night and watched wheel of fortune and a movie with her.

I’m going out to dinner & a movie with several of my friends tonight =)
