I can’t even say how much I loved these books. Highly recommended. They are often compared to Harry Potter, I don’t see the comparison, far closer to Lord of the Rings or Narnia. The films will be out in 2007 and with what I hear about the changes from story to screen (very bad) makes for all the more reason to read them now :)
