and do this!

... while I was gallivanting in the USA but I just started back at pilates yesterday. Ow, my body parts hurt.
I just can’t do that lotus position! It feels like my hip joints will crack if I push it any further. I’m extremely flexible through my hamstrings, even the instructor commented, but anything which involves frog-like flexibility seems impossible to me! Anyone got any suggestions for improving this?
At yoga tonight once again we were doing our relaxation bit at the end. I think this is my favourite bit now that the novelty of treating parts of my body like they’re made out of rubber has worn off. In the relaxation bit we get to just lie down and even get a blanket to cuddle up to while the instructor talks in a soothing voice.
I can’t exactly remember what he was saying tonight but something like “feel your eyelashes brushing against your cheeks”. Then the next thing I remember hearing was something that sounded like a bicycle pump. I thought it might’ve been in the music that was playing and I remember thinking it was a pretty odd thing to put on a relaxation CD. Only it kept getting louder and louder.
Then I realised some poor person had crossed the relaxation line and fallen asleep … and was snoring very loudly like Darth Vader. Once again I had to stop myself from giggling … I just can’t help it when everyone is taking it all so seriously and then Darth Vader emerges from the midst of it all.
... yoga is a funny thing. I’ve worked out that what happens is you’re made to get into what you think is the most uncomfortable position ever. Then, 2 minutes later, you swap into an even more excruciating position. Then 2 minutes after that you go back to the previous position which actually then feels like a relief.
Also, at the end of our class the other day, we had to say “om”s, just like “OMMM OMMM OMMM” ... some people were really loud. I know I should take these things more seriously perhaps, but it all just got a little too cosmic for me and I got the giggles. But luckily I managed to keep them on the inside … maybe just a surreptitious cough or two.
I’ve now joined a pilates/yoga studio and have been doing regular exercise for the last 3 weeks and feeling much better. I’ll consider this goal achieved if I keep it up for 2 months.
