I’m really not that into sports but in the dream I had last night I was fixated with watching the Australian Rules Football on TV. There was a keyboard attached to the TV and anyone watching could write whatever they wanted to and it would eventually appear, scrolling along the bottom of the screen. My bright idea was to write a revelation I had discovered about playing French Cricket – that it was best to use a crash test tennis racquet. Somehow I was picturing an advertisement for crash test tennis racquets in my head so I knew exactly what they were. When I tried to type the words I kept hitting wrong keys or hitting right keys but the wrong letters would appear and I was getting very frustrated. My message never came up on the screen.

Another recurring theme in my dreams. I dreamt I was somewhere with Mum … it seemed like we were having a holiday and staying somewhere like a hotel but it felt homely. We were having a disagreement about something, I think it was what movie to see, and then she decided to go out without me. Alone, I noticed my long-dead poodle, Katie, at home in the hotel with me. She was happy, and I watched while she climbed onto a pile bedclothes and found a nice cosy place to rest her head. Later I went out and noticed that the city had many old cinemas that I thought had closed down, but there they were back operating again.

I had a strange dream that one of my coworkers (who suffers from very very foul foot odour) wanted to borrow a pair of my shoes. I was trying to convince him that he would not fit into them but he was extremely insistent. I kept telling him that his feet were much bigger than mine but he just wouldn’t agree with me. I felt guilty for not letting him borrow shoes but I was getting mad because he would not take no for an answer.

I dreamt I was visiting an old farm in the wilderness. It was very picturesque and had a snowy feeling even though it wasn’t snowing. I was sitting on a haystack with my sister and her kids, next to a barn. We had a pet dog … well, it looked like a dog but was very woolly and seemed like some kind of prehistoric animal rather than a real dog. Suddenly in the barn I saw my old bunny who died last year. He was frollicking amongst the hay in the barn. I was worried the dog would go for him but my sister kept telling me it would not. I was worried about my old bunny but he seemed so happy and pleased with himself, he was having a great time in the hay.

I dreamt I went to New York (I’ve never been there so it was nothing really like New York). I ended up in some huge botanical gardens which were kind of maze-like, there were little paths leading here and there. It seemed to be a private function and then I found out it was some kind of film awards ceremony and there were famous people just sort of mooching around, saying hello to passers-by. The only person I recognised, though, was David Letterman. I felt a bit conspicuous and couldn’t work out how I’d been allowed to enter.

I dreamt I went overseas and I was staying at a funny old-fashioned hotel in London … but the world was much smaller and across the road was the US. For some reason I brought my fish with me in a small plastic tank and I kept checking to make sure they were OK. When I looked in the tank, I noticed there was a fish tail swimming around without the rest of the fish attached … but I checked all the other fish and none of them were missing a tail. I felt really confused by this!

Last night I dreamt I was visiting some kind of large parkland. It was a very surreal place, there were ancient half-formed structures everywhere and completely odd looking vegetation. There were trees that looked like huge black thistle bushes, only not as ugly. Everything seemed to be either black or a vivid grey and pale pink hue. I was trying to take photos but couldn’t seem to get a good angle of anything. Then suddenly I noticed some very dark grey clouds, small ones. They weren’t up in the sky they were just floating around the tree tops and were really peculiar shapes. I remember thinking “this is really weird, it’s like a dream” (!). As I looked into the distance I saw a massive storm brewing.

Well, I had another watery dream. I know there was a lot more to it than this but the main thing I can remember was that I was on a holiday somewhere (again) and having a swim in murky waves. Then I found a big boat, more like a ship, out in the deeper water. I got on it and found it was some sort of automated ferry. A fair few other people got on all of a sudden too and then it just took off, at a rate of knots. I knew it was on a set course but it just seemed like it was out of control. It became all dark outside and I could see the moon shining. Everything looked a bit grey. I don’t think I got off the ferry before the dream ended.

Seem to be having a lot of recurring dreams lately. This is one I have a fair bit. This time I was in a somewhat old building for work … but not my normal work, I’d travelled somewhere with my friend from work, Deb. We had to go to the 9th floor for some reason but the lift just wouldn’t go there, it kept going past the 9th floor, then it would go back down, then we’d have to go back up and try again but it just wouldn’t stop. It wouldn’t stop at any floor from 6 and a half to 9 (I don’t know why there was a 6 and a half floor). Then it went up really fast and dropped down really fast and the floor fell out of the bottom of it. Everyone else in the lift was OK but Deb and I fell through.

This morning I woke up with the intention of getting up but then fell asleep again for an hour or so (had a really tiring week). I always seem to have the most vivid dreams in the morning and, after I’d gone back to sleep, I had a really vivid dream that I went on a holiday somewhere and went swimming in a huge rockpool with a guy that I don’t know. I was diving a long way down under the water and I could look up and see sunlight through the top of the water and look down and see all sorts of little creatures on the bottom. I was telling the guy about the creatures at the bottom and he kept saying he couldn’t see them so I was trying to show him how to find them. The water started getting warm and I said I needed to find some cooler water and he showed me how to get to the cooler water.
