Well it’s been a while since I’ve logged into 43 things and alot has happened since the day that I made this a goal of mine. I’m now working with rails on a daily basis, and I’ve submitted my first patch to rails-core awhile back:
Jason has written 3 entries about this goal
I’ve gotten pretty good at RoR in the past couple of months. Lately I’ve learned how to do postback, actionmailer, and custom validation for models. I’m fairly comfortable with rails now and my next step is to learn Ajax with rjs templates.
P.S.: The has_many :through addition to active record has been a godsend. Thanks rails devs.
I come from a desktop programming background. I’ve done stuff in various “toy” languages, with PHP being the only web dev language that I’ve used. I started using rails a couple of months ago, and man, what a joy it’s been.
I’m getting pretty good at it, created 3 industrial strength web applications, but don’t feel that I’m leveraging the ruby language enough to make things pretty. So really, I have to master rails but that also involves becoming more fluent in ruby.
Jason has gotten 5 cheers on this goal.
