A major life change forced me to look over my life and decide what’s important and what is not. I guess you could say by participating in 43things I’m still screwing around, but that’s subjective. I’ve cut off my addiction to free online games and no longer linger on the internet just to be on it. Now I only go on at home when there’s a need to, like looking up directions or the hours of a store. I have much more time now to cook, clean, read, and spend time with people offline. It’s tiring to exert physical energy instead of just your fingers typing/clicking away but so worth it. Maybe in a couple months time I’ll have regressed or maybe improved to the point where I can say I’ve accomplished the goal.

I really think this is an impossible task for me since I run a couple websites and volunteer to maintain some websites with groups I volunteer with. But when you “work”, you inevitably spend some time screwing around. At least I do. With the internet, it’s very easy to get distracted and “channel surf”. Especially since besides the “work”, my hobbies include a blog and podcast which is why I don’t see myself cutting the internet umbilical cord anytime soon. But now I’m hooked on some free online games. This is not good.
yeah, that’s really gonna help me spend less time screwing around on the web! actually, it’s more like i should spend my time online with a purpose, instead of aimless wander clicking just for the fuck of being online. the internet has simply replaced channel surfing. it’s still just goofing off.
i think that 43things.com is a good idea and if i use this tool wisely, then it could very well help me reach goals, as long as i break them down into smaller steps instead of simply wishfully hoping for big things to happen.
i already use my blog to sort of document my life but there really isn’t a structure for setting goals and reaching them. i briefly wrote a list of things i’d like to achieve on another part of my web site but again by simply listing them, there really isn’t an inherent structure for achieving them.
i suppose the clincher for me for signing up with 43things.com is that i don’t have dual post within the site and then write on my blog. i can do a 2 for 1. plus, i totally love how it is integrated with flickr. excellent!
