another trip i am going on in 2006 is to the lapride, christopher street. Last year, I was my first year and it blew my brothers mind away. He has never seen so many diverse people. I, on the other hand, felt right at home.
A year ago, i decided that i need to see more of what it met to live in the now so i came to the conclusion that i must take more action and know what it feels like to be surrounded by thousands of people like me. so i along with my supportive little brother attended Christopher Street. We are from New Mexico so the closest thing to gay is driving to Phoenix and going to a gay bar which at the most has fifty or less people. We attended the parade, the concerts and other activities there. It was amazing seen thousands of people who are like me. You name it they were all there people i would see in everyday life but with nothing to hide. I felt at home. My brother who is straight felt different and for once i was not the odd one out. The most overwhelming part for my brother who had only know a few gay people looked up and down santa monica blvd, seeing nothing but gay people. He loved the dykes on bikes. There are other things to I loved about Pride but most of all it is the togetherness and unity of all who came. We are already planning our next trip to Pride.
