Walking While Knitting 2 months ago

Thankfully, I don’t have to do a run to the Library tonight either way so I can stuff my backpack with knitting supplies. It’s going to be hats galore for the next few days while I try to catch up on this goal. I’ve only got until the beginning of December. Eeeek.

Changeling Hat 2 months ago

The scarf I posted about previously turned into a hat before it even got a quarter of the way done. I just managed to finish it last night and am looking forward to the next hat I make.

Since my last post, I learned to Crochet and, as a break, it might be nice practice to see what new things I can pick up with a Crochet hook.

Working on a Scarf 4 months ago

It’s interesting how I’m used to working outside the lines. I have to follow specific instructions in the creation of these things and its so weird for me. Normally, when I make something, I just CO and go.

The scarf is going to be very similar to the pink and gray scarf in my Flickr photostream, only this one is going to be white and gray. Before long, I may have to contact the charity about an emergency yarn infusion.

Knitting Charity 4 months ago

While doing a volunteer gig at the ARC, I came across this great lady who gave me information about a knitting, sewing, and crochet charity she’s involved with at Levindale.

I’m so looking forward to participating. For right now, I’m focusing on scarves since it’s mutually beneficial. It helps them when I work out my goal by making scarves for their charity. All I’ve got to do is knit 7in by 50in scarves in any pattern, color, and design I choose to be delivered to them no later than 12 December.

But for the knitting, sounds pretty easy.

Once A Month Project - January 11 months ago

I am hoping to make at least one project a month for charity. This would put me at least two over the ten things goal but where that counts as a bad thing is a mystery to me. I figure I could achieve that in a credible amount of time. Hopefully, I could achieve much more but I’ll set it at twelve.

Right now, hats and scarves are easy enough to pop out but I’m hoping to eventually move beyond those to sweaters, shawls, and other items that will be usable all year round.

Community Mitzvah Day 12 months ago

While watching WBAL news last night, I watched people at the Jewish Community Center loading up care bags for people in need. One woman in particular had made a scarf and hat [and I think gloves] to put into a care package with other items.

When the reporter asked why she made it [I’m paraphrasing] she said that to make it by hand is to show a level of love and dedication that doesn’t come from just buying it in a store. She felt that there was special meaning to the person receiving it to know that someone put their care and time into the gift for someone that they didn’t even know.

I thought that was awesome. I already had plans to knit for charity but to see that only increased my desire to do so.
