Socks and More

I’m knitting a pair of socks right now in worsted weight yarn. I have plans to knit or crochet a lot over the next few weeks. I’m making hats for my aunt and, once I’m finished with the worsted weight yarn, I’m throwing it all into one mega scrap yarn afghan. I’m determined to put a dent in Yarn Bin Overladen this year.

Blanket Squares and Socks

Between making blanket squares for a charity blanket and making socks for myself, my stash is reducing.

I’m really liking what crocheting does to yarn too. It works up so quickly.

Crocheted Granny Squares

Not exactly “knitting” per se but I’ve finally learned to crochet granny squares. I’m going to put a lot of the yarn scraps I have into doing this.

I was also given small balls of yarn that are really too small for individual projects that will go towards making an afghan or something. It makes more sense than trying to color coordinate the lot of them when quite a few don’t justifiably match in anything else.

Shame On Me

I’ve bought more yarn. It was totally an emotional purchase too.

I’d been having a rough day yesterday and swung by the local JoAnns to look around and get orange yarn only for a gift I’m knitting.

They just happened to be having a sale (on everything nearly) and, at 2.29 per skein, it was the cheapest I’d seen yarn in a long time. One led to another led to three and then six when I realized I was spending money I couldn’t afford to spend as it was. Six skeins for less than $15.00USD isn’t half bad. Nor is the Pound of Love yarn on sale for $6.00 or the Caron One Pound for $5.49, etc.

It was hard to tear myself away. If that sale is still on today and tomorrow though, I might go back. Its been a while since relatively inexpensive yarn availability and cash flow have coincided in my life. I’ll just do penance by getting marketable colors like pink and baby blue. I can’t stand them but others might buy them if made into an item.

I still get my knitting and crocheting practice in with money to boot.

Closer

This goal is getting closer to being achieved. If I make everything in one color until I’m down to scraps and am forced to make multicolored items for my yearly goal, then I’ll most likely run out by late March or sooner if I knit more.

Still, the practice is good and it’s really helping me to focus.

I May Finally Have Found A Way...

I joined a charity. As fast as I can knit, up until 12 December, I’ll be knitting scarves and maybe hats for them. I’ll be knitting on buses, trains, in the street, in cars, in the market [haven’t done that in a while], in the library, in the doctors waiting office, in other people’s waiting offices, to avoid dysfunctional relationships in a healthy [and ARMED] manner. It’s going to be great.

Plus my library system recently got the second season of Knit and Crochet today on order. I’m so willing to pay the fee to have it come to my branch first.

Once my stash is clear, I can focus on the accumulation of yet more yarn for more projects. I’ll also be able to focus on sewing and learning about crocheting more.

A Dent In Supplies

After making The January Project, a square for Blanket 2009, and The Zoukplouf Scarf, I’m finally just making a dent in the White yarn but only marginally. The Light Blue, on the other hand, is starting to dwindle down. I predict that once I finish making The February Project, most of it will be gone.

Sleepy’s hat, while cast on the needles correctly, wasn’t knitted in the round in the right way and now, I’m focusing on making The February Project. Until that’s done, I’ll only take breaks by making squares.

Now, back to knitting The February Project for my Maternal Parental while singing Pete Seeger songs by Peter, Paul, and Mary Proxy.

Slowly It Comes Down

I’ve got the dark blue, light blue, white, light gray, black, woodsy, and painted desert yarn downstairs. It’s all being knitted into scarves and hats when I’m not online or doing chores around the house.

Slowly… LOL

This is Nowhere Near Complete

I offer gifts but no one wants them.

It looks like I’ll be covered from head to toe in my own creations.

:)

Yarnback Mountain

I actually didn’t buy a lot of this yarn. It was given to me by others and I’ve added to it over the course of 18 months. Still, I’m going to knit it all and in any way I can. I’ve already got the “Gift List” lined up for friends of mine.

I made something already for my bestest and longest time friend (at this point sister in all but blood). I’m going to start working on my other bestest and second longest time friends gifts as well as gifts for his family as soon as I finish this current project.

Still, my storage container overfloweth right now. It’s 58 quarts and it’s well over overflowing. I have to get this stuff minimized via knitting and hopefully selling.
