Move to the loft!

Finally!! We sold our house and had to be out by today, August 31st. So Saturday we moved all our big stuff and spent our first night in the loft on August 29th! The plumber finished putting in the shower faucets, sinks and toilet on the 28th. It was cutting in close but we made it work. We still don’t have the shower door on and the window in the shower covered so we won’t be able to take showers here for a few more days (We have been using my in-laws). Its mess and we are kind of living out of boxes but hey we are moved and that’s all I care about!! Cleaning can come later….

Pretty much all the work is done on the bedroom and bathroom and we can almost move in. But we had to special order more tile for the shower and we are just waiting for it to come in. Once it gets here the carpenter can put it up and then we can clean up and lay our cork flooring & then move in!!
We still have to refinish the wood flooring but my husband is going to try and get that done before she shower is finished. So now we have had to push our move date back by one month…just because Stupid Home Depot didnt have enough tile to do a shower….........

started day before yesterday!! They have to take down a wall or two before they can start putting up the new walls but they should be done with that either today or tomorrow. So next week they will start to put walls up. We are only working on our bedroom, bathroom & kitchen so that we can just move ASAP. We don’t have all the money we need now to finish anything other than that and dont really want to have to take out a loan. Once our house sales we will be able to finish the rest of the work!! But as of now we are now looking at a 2 month time frame to be able to spend our first night in our new home!

The plumber was going to start yesterday but my husband jumped the gun and he can’t start yet. For some reason (I knew he was wrong but wasn’t going to argue) he thought we should bring the plumber in before the carpenter got started on the walls. So the plumber came and basically said I need walls so that I know for sure where your sink, shower, tub & toilet will be. So now we have to call the carpenter to come put walls up. But before we do that we have to finish up the floor, which we are not sure about yet. We wanted to do cork in the bathroom but its more expensive than we thought it would be, so we are still looking. I should have known better than to get my hopes up….oh well. Just pushed us back another couple of weeks…but hey…I’m used to that by now!!

Well I had this as my challenge to be done by November 21st or else I would have a sad birthday. Well its not going to happen but I will still be having a Happy Birthday. I’m ready to move but other things have just gotten in the way of getting the loft ready to live in. I’m just trying to stay positive!! :D If we moved now it would be some really really cold nights…..

We will still be doing this….just not by my birthday like planned…..

Well, we walked around the ‘loft’ for about 30 minutes yesterday coming up with a game plan. We’ve figured out a way to lay the floor plan out so we can divide our one big loft into two, if we decide to later. So now that we have a floor plan in mind Joe is going to find some kind of computer program that we can actually make the floor plans on. My goal this week is to try and get caught up on framing and cleaning the bottom floor so that this weekend we can spend all our time on the loft instead of playing catch up with the frame shop. We are going to remodel the small ‘guest bath’ that is already in place upstairs first, so that we can go ahead and move in. I still haven’t written up my full game plan like I normally like to do, but that will come in a few weeks.

So I’ve made this goal my new challenge. We’re taking a weekend trip to McKinney and then will probably start working on the loft again!! We’ve got to finish the floors or at least find someone who can do it for us for a reasonable amount. Then we have to start planning the layout and all that fun stuff. First I need to make us some kind of game plan schedule type thing, just because I’m like that….

Hopefully I will be able to mark this as done in 6 months. We’ve got to finish the bottom floor remodel before we can start upstairs again…but with gas prices the way they are we are hoping to be able to move even sooner so that I wont have to drive to work…I can just walk downstairs to the shop, and Joe’s office is moving downtown on June 1st so he wont have to drive far at all either once we get moved. I know we are going to achieve this goal sooner or later…I’m just ready to mark it as done…...
