Get my Master's Degree

I graduated from the Philip Merrill College of Journalism on May 23, 2008. And yesterday morning, I got the job of my dreams – writing features in a small town in Virginia. I’ve been working for this basically my entire life. :) It’s a little terrifying, but I can’t wait to get started.

my last semester of grad school starts Monday :)

I got in everywhere I applied. :) I am going to the University of Maryland. It is a top 5 program for what I want to do and they are giving me a fellowship!! My whole life is about to change and I can’t quite get my head around it, to be honest.

I ended up applying to seven schools. So far I have only heard back from two – Oregon and Florida – but I got into both. :) It’s a bit intense because when I started applying I was POSITIVE that I would just go to Oregon for sure if I got in there, but I heard from Florida first and had plenty of time to google and find out how good of a program it really is. And it turns out it’s pretty fucking good. I am really proud of myself for getting in there – on every list I’ve found it’s in the top 10!!! So now I would just like to hear back from the other five. And to stop freaking out. Because holy shit I am leaving New York in three months. Eep!

I’m in the process of applying to grad school. I should use the “in the process of” loosely, because I am kind of sucking at getting started. It’s a bit of an overwhelming task. The thing I really need to do is write my statement of purpose. That’s the big hurdle right now. It’s intimidating because I want to go to school for journalism so I feel a lot of pressure to have an AMAZING statement. I’m hoping to get a lot of work done on it when I’m home for Thanksgiving.
