We created a cd for my baby last night. We let her go through iTunes and pick her favorites.
Some entries:
Ch-ch-ch-check it out by the Beastie Boys (clean edit)
I wanna hold your hand by the Beatles
Brown Eyed Girl covered by Me First and the Gimmee Gimmees
Beethoven’s 5th
Darth Vader’s March by John Williams
Little Red Riding Hood by Sam the Sham
I think she’s getting a healthy mix of songs. Mostly I’m excited though, because she can tell me what she does and doens’t like and why.
Awesome.
Last night Lia and I talked about how she’d be starting kindergarten in the fall. I told her that if she could start reading before Christmas, that She and I could read all of the Harry Potter books outloud to each other.
A monumental task, I’m aware.
However, I think that having something for her to look forward to will give her motivation.
And Harry Potter is definately a series of books that changed how Americans view literature. Maybe not on anyone’s “Great Books” list, but I think that its a definative collection. And its on my list of Books Everyone Should Read More Than Once.
The Tiny Monkey was singing along with the Beatles last night. And then she actually requested Janis Joplin.
The classic rock influence is going well.
Next comes bubblegum punk.
