Finshed:
The Amber Spyglass which was moderately dissapointing, but on a whole concluded the triology very well. I can’t wait for the Monkey to be old enough to read these!
Atonement which was good in the way all of Ian McEwan’s books are. They’re real, they’re easy reads, and they make you think.

I finished Saturday by Ian McWhoever last night.
It was okay, but not as impressive as I was expecting.

Book One for Week 7/31.
It was a surprizingly good book. Fabulous characterization. Drew me in.
It made me glad to have read it, in more than that ‘man, I’m glad I read this’ sort of way. It was good not just for the sake of being good.

I finished For Whom the Bell Tolls last night. I don’t understand what the big deal is. Its a book about a man who goes to war for something he believes in. Its formally written with lots of thous and thines and that’s about the extent of the excitement.
Well, except for Sordo’s last stand. I did enjoy that.
Not on my list of books to read again, though, that’s for certain.

I’ve started For Whom the Bell Tolls. Again. I’ve read the first two chapters nineteen times, or something ridiculous. I’m up to chapter seven, now, though, so perhaps I’ll make it to the end.
ug.

I’ve nearly finished ‘Stranger in a Strange Land.’ Its strangely fascinating, yet tedious. An unusual combination. Its taken me nearly a week to read it, because its so in depth. I normally can read through a book in 48 hours, so its starting to become a quest to get it finshed.
However, I do spend most of the day thinking about what I read the night before, wondering if the book is truly science fiction (yes, its about a man from Mars) or if its more political. I know it can be both. Look at ‘1984.’ I just wonder if people read it simply because its sci-fi if they’re going to get everything out of it that they could.
