I have a tradition with my uncle that we fly kites on Christmas day. It’s utterly relaxing and a great bonding experience and I have the fondest memories of Christmas because of this tradition. So I love kites.
I am living in China for 1 year, probably not any longer than that. China is the birth place of kites and silk so it seems only natural that I would be able to see a lot of beautiful kites.
Unfortunately I can’t get any in Fuzhou, and I haven’t actually seen anything resembling a high quality kite in China. That’s disappointing and surprising. But tailors, bamboo pole makers, and fine art painters are all dead cheap and easy to find. How hard can it be to have a kite made??
