I’m relatively new to 43things, and already two people have made me aware of things I can do politically.
1) Kiva.com, micro-loans to enable people to make better lives for themselves. (still researching this one)
2) lightamillioncandles.com, to protest child pornography. (I did this one!)
I guess technically, these actions are not strictly political in the sense of American government politics- Democrats versus Republicans; yadda, yadda, yadda. But I’m kind of sick of our politics and chose to interpret ‘becoming more politically active’ with ‘making a difference somehow in the lives of others whom I may not know’.
If the etymology of “politics” relates to being a citizen, I want to be a citizen who can make small moves to make things better for others without relying on our corrupt governing body to obfuscate, manipulate, and misinterpret my desires to make a happier planet.
