It’s always fun when Jon decides to join me on a trail ride.
So on Sunday afternoon we went to the barn together, I borrowed Bita and Jon rode Brownie.
He’s really been improving on his riding lately and enjoys jogging the horse on the trails.
We walked down James Road and shifted into a higher gear once we reached the grassy extension until we saw a four-wheeler approaching in the distance. We didn’t realize that they had turned into a side trail to let us pass, so we took to much time, stopped and took pictures before we finally turned into another side trail. I was happy about the patience and consideration of these people!
We continued jogging through the jungle, this time Jon leading the “group”. He did well, even though he still has to hold on to the saddle. But he’s able to make Brownie jog, walk and stop. We even loped for a little bit.
The whole ride took an hour and was a lot of fun. When we got back to the barn, Baleigh was there giving her horse a shower – in flip-flops! Crazy girl! Stephanie arrived a little later with Pattie and Ruby in the trailer. We chatted a bit while she and Baleigh were doing chores.
To complete our “date”, Jon and I went to Cocoa Village to have Buffalo Salad and a Miller Light for dinner at Norman’s.
It’s so nice to do fun things with my Jon!
We went to a little party last night, not very long because I had to get up at four today to drive to Daytona Beach, but we also went to the marina to a military appreciation night on Friday where we ate free wings – that didn’t really help running today’s half marathon – had a beer and visited Jon’s co-worker’s boat that he’s living on.
I was so upset about having to live in a sauna that Jon took me for a wonderful walk on the beach. We went from Ron Jon’s all the way to the pier and I was so much happier after we came back. Maybe Florida isn’t so bad at all. We’ll just have to make the best of it.
We spent the entire weekend together, did many fun things and just enjoyed the free time. That was great!
We went to the movies tonight to watch 21.
It was fun!
Tomorrow we’re going
- boating on the Indian River
- to a Japanese restaurant with some of Jon’s co-workers
- to Stephanie’s for a bonfire.
I’m looking forward to all of that!
A good place for date nights, because you can actually walk everywhere.
Last night we had dinner on top of a watermill and went to the hotel’s Irish Pub later. That was fun.
Jon’s showing more interest in riding Brownie lately, so we’ve gone together a couple of times.
Yesterday we also went to Stephanie’s parents’ house and for dinner with some friends.
Today we had ice-cream and Frito-Chili-Wraps at a Drive-In after taking Brownie for a walk. I think this DOES qualify as a date.
For tomorrow we’re planning on doing the long run/bike ride thing together again and tailgating afterwards, including putting some hamburgers on the grill. Just the two of us. How romantic!
We spent the whole weekend together and it was so nice, so much fun. I think I got myself the best husband in the world. We just love doing the same things.
Jon and I are going to St. Petersburg on Friday, I’ll run a 10k there on Saturday – so not really much of a long date night, but we’ll be leaving my parents at home and stay at a nice hotel with a swimming pool and live entertainment.
I hope we can stick around town for a while after the race and maybe even go swim in the Gulf of Mexico.
