play more music

Have played the flute a couple of times recently. I’ve enjoyed improvising both times. Feel the need to extend my repertoire of tunes from which to improvise. I know I’ll never be a professional musician but it’s still fun to play and satisfying to improve.

I’m typing this haltingly, trying to ensure that my right middle finger is out of the way as I do so. You see it’s fractured and in a splint for at least another four weeks. That’s going to make it a tad difficult to play my flute, sax or tin whistle.

Oh well.

Not for long but I did play a few old Jethro Tull tunes and improvised a bit. It felt good…

Another weekend gone and no more music from yours truly :(

It’s a sad state of affairs and I’m not sure what to do about it. I don’t have time during the week due my commuting lifestyle and the weekends just seem to fill up with other activities.

I think I’ll bump this up my order of priorities. I really do enjoy playing music and need to make a conscious effort to make time for it.

After the encouragement (I must have received six cheers since I last picked up one of my main musical instruments – I don’t count sitting down at the piano and playing the opening bars to Stairway to Heaven, which is the extent of my piano repertoire) and the firm admonishment that listening to my iPod doesn’t count, it’s time I picked up my flute, sax or tin whistle and played a few tunes! Well, after work today anyway.

Still haven’t made the time to play one of my dormant musical instruments…

Have been enjoying listening to far more talented musicians on my iPod though. Does that count?

... I used to enjoy playing my flute, sax and tin whistle regularly. Last time I checked I still had them, but it’s been quite a while.

Maybe this weekend…
