tycho was neutered on wednesday, and although he handled it very well and is healing really well, this morning george and i woke to a mess on the carpet.
so george has decided that this is the last straw.
we’re going back to the litter box.
maybe we’ll try the citikitty again when tycho is a little older…but for now, george has had enough.
it’s an experiment that hasn’t worked.
so…let’s see how well he goes back to the box.

everything was going well, until we cut the first hole in our citikitty pan.
not only did tycho find the water FACINATING! but he also refused to use it at all.
he decided that next to the potty was close enough for points, but far enough from the hole to be safe, i suppose.
so, we found a shallow bucket that the pan fits well on and sits low next to the toilet, and we moved it down to there.
i guess he felt safer using it with the hole if it’s not over water.
each time he goes #2, we put the pan back up on the toilet and push his poo down the hole and let him see how it supposed to work.
he seems interested, but let’s see if HE’S willing to do that himself.
so, we’re going to try moving it back over the water and see if he uses it up there.
i’m not sure what we’re going to do if he doesn’t…
okay, we removed the inner circle of the citikitty pan and what’s the first thing tycho did?
played with the toilet water!
first he tried to fit his head in there, but when he realized it wouldn’t fit, he chose to stick his paw down in there and bring the toilet water to him!
ew.
i know he has a facination with water…i mean, i can’t take a bath in peace, but he has a water dish in the living room AND one in the bathroom already.
that’s not a water bowl, it’s a potty!
ew!
okay, is this just something i should get over, or is there something i can do to curb this?
help, please.
tycho has completed his week of using the citikitty pan on the toilet.
he’s doing really well.
i’m definitely one proud mama.
two things have come of this, though.
1) he has become the ruler of the potty.
if you want to do anything potty-related, whether it be scooping his litter, cleaning the toilet, or actual potty stuff, you must close the door because he’s very interested.
defensive, in fact.
2) there is litter everywhere.
EVERYWHERE.
but on the plus side, he’s bored of it now and has quit playing with it for the most part.
we just have to sweep several times per day.
the next step is cutting the first hole.
hopefully, all will go well, and he’ll get that he should start pooping on target so-to-speak.
that’s not too much to ask, right?
i mean, gosh!
he’s already 4 months old!
=D
alright, i’ll settle for him continuing to use the system properly.
wish us luck!
we’re only just now on the set of the citikitty process where to put the whole thing on the toilet, but he’s already fallen in.
it was my own fault.
my mother came over and used the bathroom, and i didn’t remind her to put it back.
he just wanted to play with the water.
but now he knows what happens…i hope.
he’s box-trained for the most part.
the most-part meaning that he poops in the box, but likes to pee in various corners around the house.
hmm.
we have the citikitty seat on the floor in the bathroom now, instead of his box, and we’re in the process of cleaning and spraying all the corners of the apartment with Boundry.
hopefully he’ll get not only that the citikitty is to poop in, but also for pee as well.
i’m crossing my fingers so hard right now.
and that makes it really hard to type.
but it’ll be worth if it works.
we’ve had our kitten for about 3 weeks now, and he’s almost 3 months old now.
he’s box trained, but we live in a small-ish apartment, so we figured if we can get him to use the toilet it would be a lot more sanitary, cost efficient, and it would let us go more than a day without having to scoop and still be able to breathe.
kittens are stinky!
i’m just about to get out of school for winter break (3 weeks), so i figured it would be a good time to start getting him used to the idea of using the CitiKitty seat.
at least as a box in the bathroom for a bit.
we’ll go as slow as he needs…but he seems to be pretty clever.
hell, he figures out all kinds of naughty things to do each day by himself!
=D
so, hopefully he’ll take to the potty well.
