I felt that while reading this book I spent alot of time wincing – it is absolutely tragic what this boy went through. There was alot of talk of triumph – but no pay-off for the reader or explanation of how he got to the place he was speaking from. If it were more convincingly from a child’s perspective I think that this may have been easier to overcome ..

I’m sad that I saw the movie before I read the book, but glad that I did get around to reading it. I just finished it, and am about to go to bed … but i’m sure that I’ll be rolling around in bed for a while tossing thoughts around in my mind about my goals and the idea that I’ve held so close for so long that if you fight hard enough for what you want, then you will acheive it. The one passage that has stuck in my mind “we must use whatever methods we can to understand the movements of the universe around us and time our actions so that we are not fighting the currents, but moving with them”.
I bought this book 6 years ago in a little second hand book store around the corner from my school, but never really started it. I’ve got several dream interpretation books, but this book discusses both psychological and physiological theories on the causes, nature and meaning of dreams.
hmph.. big words, little font, lots of pages, spread over very small cigarette breaks. This one may take a while.
