I have my degree in school library media services. I assumed I’d work in the school libraries forever. Now I’ve switched to public and the MLS is the only thing between me and some of the better Young Adult / Reference / Children’s positions. Sometimes I’m frustrated because many of the jobs listed requiring an MLS, I’d have LESS responsibility than when I was teaching.
Right now, my fiance is getting his Master / Specialist degree so I have at least a year and a half before I start. But I am putting this up to meet other folks going through the MLS programs so I can learn what to expect when I go through it.
