I have to admit that I’m pretty disappointed in myself for not doing 80 minutes. I’m not as sore as I anticipated and I probably could’ve met my goal… I’m just feeling really tired and lazy! I guess I shouldn’t be too mad at myself… I mean at least I got on the treadmill, right?

I also played tennis for an hour today so I’m anticipating that my legs and lower back will be almost unbearably sore tomorrow… but I’m still going to attempt to run 80 minutes again because I want this week’s total time to be 6 hours. I’m so excited for the pain! :\

So yesterday afternoon (as in 4/23… my sleep schedule is back to normal! YAY!) I ran outside around the lake just once (1.67 miles) but it only took me 18.5 minutes! That’s my best time ever… about 5.42 mph! :D
4/17 – 4/23 TOTAL:

4 hours for the whole week is the least amount I’ve ever done, but I guess it’s still good. I think I was over-exercising (is there such a thing? haha) the last few weeks and that’s why I felt so exhausted this week… my body needed a break. As long as I do 3.5 hours a week MINIMUM I shouldn’t feel guilty. Right?? That’s what my mom says, but 7 hours a week sounds like a good minimum to me… but then I feel really bad if I don’t do that… so I guess I should just stick to at least 3.5 hours. :/

I have had almost no motivation to run the past 5 days. The treadmill is boring me to death and my sleeping schedule is practically backwards so I’m awake during the night and can’t run outside (I don’t feel comfortable running at night in my neighborhood). And I noticed that I’ve lost 4-5 pounds since Wednesday so that’s also why I felt I didn’t need to run. But tomorrow’s my birthday (well technically today is my birthday, but I haven’t gone to sleep yet) and I know I’ll probably eat more than usually so I kind of got my motivation back today… I don’t want to gain back what I’ve lost! Today I tried 3 new preset workouts: Summit Climb, Speed Interval, and Mixed Interval… so that made the treadmill a lot more fun. I decided that I want to do the “Summit Climb” workout every morning as a warm-up for the day, so just incase I don’t run later I will at least have some exercise. Summit Climb is basically like power walking up a mountain and then coming back down: it’s a 20 minute workout where your speed starts at the fastest and gradually goes down to the slowest and then goes back up (a “V” shape) and at the same time the incline starts at the lowest percent and gradually goes up to the highest and then goes back down (an upside down “V”). It’s pretty intense even though I’m not running… and it made me sweat a lot! hehehe :)
Well I have got to get to sleep (it’s 5 am!) for a couple hours… then get up and watch Dawson’s Creek… and then probably sleep a little more… then wake up and go run and play tennis (hopefully it won’t rain!)... and then finally- go and have a good birthday dinner and a movie! :D

I wanted to run more, but I have 2 horrible blisters on my feet and they were so hard to deal with! And I feel bloated and cramp-y and just physically not well.
But I did finally try one of the preset workouts on my treadmill- it’s called “Endurance” and I did it on level 7 (level 9 is the highest)... this is how it went (and I don’t know how to present this info any better… I tried to figure out how to make a table and it was just way too confusing!):
Minute: Speed: Incline:
1=====5.0===0
2=====6.2===0
3=====5.8===0
4=====5.4===0
5=====5.0===0
6=====5.0===6
7=====5.0===4
8=====5.0===3
9=====5.0===2
10====5.0===0
It repeats 2 more times for a 30 minute workout.
It was hard! Running at an incline is really difficult! But it was definitely less boring than what I usually do and I know I worked out more leg muscles running with the incline. So I’m going to always do at least one preset workout a day from now on… there’s at least 7 more besides “Endurance” and even one for a 5K! :)

I wanted to do 4 hours and 15 minutes, but 3/4 of the way through my 3rd hour my left foot starting getting a sharp pain so I power walked for rest of the hour and decided I was done for the day. I think it was a smart decision, because I want to do at least 90 minutes for 4/17 and I can’t do that if I have an injury! Over 3 hours of running a day isn’t really good anyways.
Oh and today I ran an hour without stopping for the first time ever… and it was 5.09 miles! AWESOME! I think I’ll definitely be prepared for the 5K I’m doing on Mother’s Day.

For this week I want to run 7-8 hours… so if I run 2 hours for 4/17 I only need to run an hour every day for the rest of the week and that’ll be 8 hours- I think I can handle that! I really need to stay on track this week. :)

My running always gets screwed up when my sleeping schedule is off! >:(
Today I have to run 4 hours and 15 minutes to make my goal of 8 hours for the week! AHHH! That’s so much running! It’s already 9:30 pm and I haven’t started yet either (but I did wake up at 4:30 pm)... the hardest part is starting so I’m going to get on the treadmill no later than 10 o’clock and start with an hour and I’m really going to try my best to make my goal. I’ll probably be up until at least 8:30 am so I definitely have enough time… I just need the energy and motivation!

I ran twice around the lake again tonight and I thought I would beat my last time, but I didn’t… it was the same! :(
My left leg started to hurt so I had to power walk some of it… but I must have been running much faster the first lap around, because with the walking I expected to have a slower time. So I guess I’m happy that I didn’t get slower… and I guess I shouldn’t always expect to improve. My mom says I’m running too much, but I strongly disagree… tomorrow: 2 hours!

Instead of doing 3 30-minute sessions today I decided I could handle doing 2 45-minute sessions… so today I ran the most I’ve ever ran without stopping- 3.82 miles! 2 months ago it would never have even crossed my mind to try running that much, and even just a few weeks ago I know I would have given up and started walking. I feel good! :D
