What is the math portion of the GMAT like?
I ask, because I decided to take some first steps towards this goal. I haven’t used Algebra in like 15 years, so now that I work for a University, I decided my attack plan would be to first take an Algebra course (enrolled, I start next week), and then next semester Calculus.
Is this overkill?

I have no problems with the Verbal portion…but no way will I pass the Quantitative. Math scared me in high school. I had to take pre-Algebra just to get into Algebra, and got a C in Geometry. I know nothing of Calculus or Trigonometry. I have been out of high school since 1989.
I signed up for some sample questions through Delta, and I thought they were speaking a new language.
I am guessing I will take a pre-Algebra course this fall, as I work for a University and it’s inexpensive for me to take classes. If I do well, it will take me another semester to take the ‘real’ Algebra, then yet another semester of Calculus.
So I’m looking at being at least a year, year and a half away from even attempting the GMAT.
