I started biting/picking at my lips again! Ugh, this time however, I noticed when I began doing it and know that this is a stress trigger. I have chapstick, lip balm and carmex lying around everywhere so I can apply something the moment I am tempted!

I’ve made great strides. I am aware enough that when I put my hand up to my face to start picking at my lips to stop and apply some lip gloss or chapstick. I’m just curious now though, why my lips continue to be so dry and they continue to chap. I don’t lick my lips or anything like that. They just seem to be dry all the time. I’ll get there.
I haven’t stopped biting my lip however, I am more cognizant of when I’m doing it. When I notice that I am, I find the nearest tube of chapstick or lip balm and apply generously! It seems to help.
I’ve found that when I apply lipstick or any type of lip balm I am less apt to bite my lips because I don’t like to get it on my fingers. Sounds silly but it seems to help. On the other hand, I don’t want to become obsessive about constant lipstick or balm application.
I came across this “thing” a few days ago and thought I’d give it a whirl. Thus far, I’m not doing well. I know it’s something I do when I’m feeling stressed however, that knowledge has not stopped me from the dreaded act. I’m off to apply some chapstick. I know that makes my lips feel better and I actually don’t feel as compelled to pick at them when I apply chapstick or lipstick.
