learn to snowboard

3 years ago I was on a month long trip I took to celebrate my birthday. Ended up meeting some Aussies on the train and decided to go snowboarding with them the next day. (My mom’s reaction: “You’re going to do WHAT? Do you remember that you don’t have insurance?!) Missed the shuttle because of daylight savings time confusion, so we hitched up the mountain. Anywho, this guy let us off as high up as he could drive so we would have a free run before getting lift passes. Should probably mention that I’VE NEVER BEEN ON A MOUNTAIN BEFORE. Get the Aussies to show me how to strap the board to my boots (after an incident that involved the board flying quite a few meters down the mountain… nobody said lay the board down on an angle!) Since they so graciously helped me with that I told them to go on w/o me. Very excited when I figured out how to stand up. Wasn’t until I was flying down the path that I realized I didn’t know how to stop or steer the damn thing. I made it down in one piece and had a few beer with the instructors, who laughed their butts off at me. Must try again soon!
