I’ve been thinking about becoming a creative coach. The winter a woman came into Michael’s craft store, where I teach 3-5 y/o, looking for someone to teach art at home for her genius 5 y/o daughter. This got me thinking about doing at home art teaching. I also happened to pick up some old Arts & Activities magazines from the library and in one there was a 2 page article about creative coaches.
It addressed difficulties and marketing strategies. I still feel with my current ‘fame’(for lack of a better word in my head right now) at Michael’s as an instructor I could pull something off. I also feel that I could grow a lot in such a field. I am excited about the idea of impacting a child regarding art appreciation and skill. It is very important to develop an awareness for art in kids at a young age.
I also think it would be a more profitable direction of work than an instructor at Michael’s which pays only $7/hr. I will have to think about it some more. But if I plan on pursuing it I’d like to start doing it for this summer.
