I’m done. I ended up with 30.12 GB worth of MP3 files.

I’m getting close to finishing this one. After I finish the current lot of CDs, I need to go back and look at some of the CDs I was stingy with when I didn’t have as much hard drive space. Then I’ll consider this one done. :)

I’ve been converting some of the CDs I purchased from MP3.com (Jeffro Bodeen, Lesbian “High Risk” compilations, Superluminal Pachyderm, Rob Blaikie). It’s more of a pain that regular CDs because I have to enter all the ID3 tag information. But I’m getting there. I got 6 done tonight. Hopefully, I won’t have to work too much this weekend, and I’ll get more done. Whooot!

I think I’m almost finished. There are a bunch of CDs in one of my closets, though, of which I’m unsure. I think I put them there when I was on a decluttering mission because I don’t like them but couldn’t let them go. I’ll have to go through them and make sure. If I don’t like them for real, I’ll get rid of them.

Today I ripped several Barenaked Ladies and Live CDs among others. I probably have about 50 CDs left to rip. Yay!

I noticed a couple of CDs missing. Live’s “Throwing Copper” and Dishwalla’s “And You Think You Know What Life’s About.” I think my friend Keely has the Dishwalla CD, and that’s fine. I can’t figure out what happened to the Live CD, though.

I sent off my iPod battery class action suit paperwork yesterday. I’ll be getting a $50 credit for something from their store in the mail at some point. Maybe the iPod Photos will come down in price by then.

I’m working on my Counting Crows collection now. On an unrelated note, I’m part of the iPod battery class action lawsuit. I should probably choose the free new battery, but I’ll probably choose the $50 credit toward something from the iPod store. If a lot of people do that, I’ll bet Apple makes money on this deal. I’ve got my eye on an iPod Photo.

Another gig ripped. The latest artists I’ve converted are Travis, Paul Simon, Soul Coughing and that “Chris Gaines” CD that’s really Garth Brooks looking almost Goth-y.

I still have a lot to go, but maybe I’ll make some more headway this weekend.

20.9 Gigabytes 4 years ago

I just finished ripping a Tesla CD. I found out the 20G iPod doesn’t really hold 20G. I guess because it has the little iPod operating system on it or something. Why don’t they make the hard drive big enough to hold the other stuff and leave 20G for music? Doesn’t matter. Just sayin’.

Anyway… I still have a lot of CDs to rip, but I’m making progress.

I ripped two more gigabytes of music over the past week including CDs from Pearl Jam, Poi Dog Pondering, The Cure, Train, U2, Oasis, and Smashing Pumpkins. Lots more still to go.

A Little Headway on Ripping my CDs 4 years ago

I’ve been doing a few CDs almost every day. It’s amazing how many CDs I hadn’t already ripped… favorites like Dishwalla, Stabbing Westward and Seven Mary Three.

When I first got iTunes and my iPod, I didn’t have near-infinite space on my PC for MP3 files, so I was careful about not ripping too many songs. Plus my iPod is only 20 GBs. Now I have lots and lots of space on my PC. :)

My iTunes library is up to 17.4 GBs now, so I’ll either need a bigger iPod soon, or I’ll have to manage what songs go in it. Maybe that 60 GB iPod photo will come down in price. I wish

This process is allowing me to organize my CDs, too. I’ve even found CDs I forgot I had. :D
