I checked one item off today:
- My plants and animals are healthy (fed, watered, getting light and love)
Since I finally took Lily for her dental exam, I could check it off.
The next two on the list that I haven’t checked off are:
1. My clothes are all ironed, clean and make me look good I don’t think all my clothes make me look good. Plus, I thought I found some good pants a couple months ago, but after a couple of weeks wearing them, I decided I didn’t like them after all. I’m still on a pants quest.
2. My hair is the way I like it. I might go get it cut this weekend.

I checked two items off today:
- My personal files, papers and receipts are neatly filed away.
- My car is in excellent condition. (as far as I know)
The next two on the list that I haven’t checked off are:
1. My clothes are all ironed, clean and make me look good I clean them weekly. I might iron a couple shirts tomorrow that have been wrinkled for weeks. If only I could find some good pants.
2. My plants and animals are healthy (fed, watered, getting light and love). I still need to take Lily to the vet for a dental cleaning and to get the thing on her foot removed.

Since I’ve been consistently saving 10% of my income each month, I checked that item off. Now the first two unchecked items on the list are:
1. I know how much I must have to be minimally financially independent, and I have a plan to get there. I’m still not sure exactly what this means. I might already be minimally financially independent. I don’t depend on anyone else. I only depend on my job, and my job provides great medical and retirement benefits. What do you think? Do I meet this?
2. I have 6 months’ living expenses in an easily accessible account.
Only about 3 months’ living expenses in an easily accessible account.

I dealt with this one: “I have let go of the relationships which drag me down or damage me.” Check!
I don’t really know how to deal with this one: “There is no one whom I would dread or feel uncomfortable bumping into.” There is one person, but it’s unlikely I’ll bump into him. I’ve distanced myself from the situation now, so as long as that distance persists, I’ll be fine. I’ll pretend this is checked.
Now my top two unresolved things are:
1. I do not gossip or talk about others. Yeah, right. This will probably always remain unchecked, but I’ll acknowledge it and maybe that’ll spur me on to work on it.
2. I have fully forgiven those people who have hurt/damaged me, intentional or not. Uh, no.

1. There is no one whom I would dread or feel uncomfortable “bumping into.” There’s one guy. I’m unsure how that’s going to resolve itself.
2. I have let go of the relationships which drag me down or damage me. There’s one girl from whom I need to distance myself, and it’s not fair to her. But for my own sake, I think I need to do it.

1. I rarely eat sugar. (Less than 3 times per week) Waaaaa! I want sugar. Actually, sometimes this is true, but not lately. I can still taste the frosting from that cupcake I ate earlier.
2. My teeth and gums are healthy (Have seen dentist in last 6 months) I’m not going to admit how long it’s been since I went to the dentist. New goal here

1. I currently save at least 10% of my income. Not consistently. Some months, I do. New goal here
2. I know how much I must have to be minimally financially independent, and I have a plan to get there. Not.

1. My personal files, papers, and receipts are neatly filed away. I set up a goal for this
2. My car is in excellent condition. (Doesn’t need mechanical work, repairs, cleaning or replacing). It’s actually not bad… just cluttered. I got new tires and brake pads last week (over $500 ouch!). I’ll need to get an oil change and inspection next month. No problem.

I think attempting to achieve most of the things on the checklist is a good thing.
Clean Sweep
My score today is 46/100
Physical Environment: 14
Money: 14
Well-being: 10
Relationships: 8
My approach will be to identify the first two things in each category that I can’t check off and work on those things.
Before I jump in, though, I had a couple questions:
What does “financially independent” mean? Does that mean without a job? Or does it mean not dependent on another person?
What does “I am complete with past loves or spouses” mean? That I don’t have lingering feelings? Or maybe I have forgiven all the ones who need forgiving?
