I cleaned up When Anaiya Smiles as much as I could. Then I backed up all the files to CD and deleted them from my computer. That way, I won’t be tempted to do more.

Just Do It
I challenged myself to work on one song per month, trying to break it down into baby steps, but it still feels overwhelming.
I’m going to Just Do It, though. As soon as I post this, I’m muting the volume on my computer so I don’t get distracted by the siren song of the e-mail alert. Then I’m going to listen to “When Anaiya Smiles” and make notes about what to fix and how to enhance it.
Laters!
I was burnt out. I thought, “This is it. This is where my creativity and drive dry up and I go back to doing whatever it was I did before November, 2007.”
The feeling passed. I listened to my songs, and heard things I wanted to change. I juggled the worry that I won’t be able to do it right with the excitement of the challenge ahead. I’ve been thinking about song ideas. Lyric snippets pop into my head sometimes. I pulled out my small notebook and wrote some ideas down while I was sitting at Starbucks Friday evening. I did the same today at Madam Mam’s.
The best part of all this is that I’m excited about writing songs again. I haven’t felt this way in 10 years.
