Rip my entire CD collection

Today I am doing Tina Turner & U2.

I have also done a lot of the compilations. I am probably about 2/3 of the way through this project.

There are over 9000 songs in my iPod library to date. Of course, a lot of them are duplicates on different CDs and some of them are just library duplicates. Still, it seems like an awful lot of song choice. I know other people’s collections would be much more massive, but I am still amazed by how many songs I have to choose from when I see them organised like this. The idea of cataloguing them fully and correctly (as I like to do) really seems quite massive.

It blows my mind a bit that there are as many songs as there are in the universe and people keep coming up with more and more and more. I wonder how many there are?...

I have been very enthusiastically ripping away a few CDs a day. I have finished about 100 and I probably have another 250 to go. I have just found out that Windows Media Player 10 is much faster at ripping than the Creative Media Source thing I was using.

I am going to start doing it alphabetically now, as opposed to the random fashion I was doing before. Much more methodical.
