I have had some good luck in the past few weeks with recovering lost things!
The last thing I lost was my Pocket PC, which fell out of my bag just before Christmas. But I was able to recover it just after Christmas – such a relief! Someone honest had found it and handed it in at the shop I had visited.
Not long before that my whole bag fell off my bike and I didn’t realise until a few minutes later. When I went back to find it I could not find it anywhere. Turns out that someone had found it and handed it in to an office close to where I lost it. Huzzah for honest people! (My bag happened to be choc full of gadgets and goodies that day – I could never have afforded to replace the stuff in it, likewise I could not even afford just a new Pocket PC).
I suppose it was bad luck to lose them in the first place, as the losses caused me considerable stress, but it was so good to find them again, and it made me appreciate my stuff all the more!
And now, my Pocket PC is getting lots of organisin’ lovin’ again – I’ve installed a new application (My Life Organised) and some extra memory (which is not working, but hopefully will work later).

Gosh, I sure love eating mushrooms. Especially breakfast mushrooms which I had this morning with scrambled eggs on toast at Stuzzi – they do fine mushrooms.

I have had so many appointments lately and felt so busy. It was so nice today to have an appointment free day!

Last night before I went to sleep at 2am I went outside to put something in the garbage and I had to take in the beautiful street view.
The sky was really bright, but soft and luminescent. It was meant to be a full-moon, although you couldn’t see it hidden behind the clouds – but it must have been doing something behind the scenes to get the whole sky so bright.
The tangles of sticks and pods that make up the bare plane trees stood out boldy in silhouette in contrast to the sky. And the street light shone a soft ambient glow over the terrace houses across the road.
The whole scene was the epitomy of “winter’s beauty” in my gorgeous street. I love my pretty street.

It’s a fairly useless activity really, but I have to admit I have way too much nerdy fun trying to geocache the locations of all of my photos of places on flickr. I like to try and get all of the locations exactly right. If you scroll in really closely on the satelite of Melbourne you’ll find I have been quite precise!
The yahoo! maps are not very good for Melbourne so I have to use google maps and compare the satelite visuals. And a lot of it is just like a navigation game. And the more pictures I put in the easier it becomes to find other places in reference to them.

Well the good thing about riding home in heavy rain, getting soaking wet, freezing cold and covered in mud (apart from the obvious fact that it is good to finally see proper rain again and there better be at least 20mm rain landing in the catchments because I could have squeezed at least that much from my clothes and hair when I got home), especially after a real shocker of a day (which included getting stuck at every red light on the way to my appointment – adding at least another 15 minutes than anticipated to the ride, which meant I got there just in time, but then the elevator did not seem to be working so I decided to take the stairs but then found myself trapped in the stairwell because every door was locked, including the one I got in by and there was this terrible obnoxiously loud machinery shaking the walls and I was afraid I’d never get out because no-one could hear me and my mobile wasn’t working! And the stairwell was completely isolated – a sign on the inside of level 3 stated that you are not supposed to use the stairwells, and apparently everyone else knew this. I envisioned being stuck in there forever or at least until my rotted corpse was discovered in the year 2078 when the building was being knocked down. But after running up and down 1o flights of stairs and trying every door and having a mini panic attack someone finally let me out after I banged up a storm on the door of level 3)...
...the good thing about getting very wet and very tired is that there is absolutely no excuse when you get home for not drying off, climbing into some PJs, putting on the heater, crawling onto the couch to rest my weary bones and veging in front of Big Brother with some very snuggly, affectionate cats. It makes it aaaallll worthwhile.

I took some cloud photos for the first time in a while yesterday. I miss my sky journal. I might take it up as a daily practice again. Although I already have too many daily projects to keep up with (this list being just one of them). But the sky journal was one of the easiest things and one of the most personally rewarding.
And yesterday the sky was full of beautiful clouds – there were at least 4 favourites – big heaps of chunky mashed potato contrasted against a brilliant blue sky; vast, whispy sky covering ones; sun-drenched babies; and little chains of clouds running in a wave pattern around a huge portion of the horizon.

There’s a small community of ants that has been living on the south wall in my toilet for the last few weeks. Ants en masse in the house are not welcome. But this small community has been quite fascinating to watch. There’s only about ten of them. Today when I went in there was only two.
They like to commune near the toilet roll holder and then when they sense my presence they start moving away from the centre in a fascinating choreography – their little black bodies spreading out in different directions over the vast eggshell coloured wall – into the sun and into the shadows. Sometimes they move together, bumping into one another and then spread apart and move together again. Sometimes they run towards each other and meet in the middle for a cuddle and sometimes they run away from each other.
There’s something quite mad and yet quite graceful about their movements. Like modern dance.
I like my ant visitors. But when Gigi sees them they get brutalised. Perhaps that’s why there’s only 2 left.

It’s my monthly Rostered Day Off today (and even though I have some sort of flu and I will unfortunately be spending much of the day on some stupid work stuff) in the afternoon am riding my bike to Carlton to look at books. And if I have time I will also go to North Melbourne, just because I haven’t been there for ages.
And it’s a gorgeous crisp autumn day with a sweet little breeze. Yay for great weather on RDOs!
