My five-minute splits are now at 7.5, 7.5, and 7.0 mph. That last segment is a killer.
Spring is coming, so I want to finish this before I start running outside again. Not this week, definitely, and maybe not next, but—with luck, maybe the week after.

Ran two 8:34 miles last week!
I’m back to doing 5-minute splits this week, at 7.2 mph. Five minutes is no longer a wall at that speed, so I’ll work this week on getting more speed in.

Ah, yes, there’s the wall I was looking for—7.2 MPH. I can’t run more than one 5-minute stretch at 7.2 at this point.
Now I know where my limit is, and I can work on knocking it over.

Right now, I’m doing 5-minute run/walk segments (new diet, so taking it easy for a couple of weeks)—I can really reliably run a 10-minute mile, so it’s time to add some intensity. The next step is to step up my workouts until I’m doing three 5-minute 7.5 MPH segments, and then once I can do that extend the time I’m running at 7.5 to 8 minutes.
I’m hoping to be running regular 8-minute miles by the time I get back outdoors in April or so. (Right now I’m on the treadmill inside, which is why I wanted to do this—treadmill running is boring as all heck, so I need something to spice it up some.)
