This was my first bootcamp and honestly it was probably one of the more productive months I’ve had recently. Having something to work towards really made a difference in what I chose to do each day.
I achieved the majority of the things I set out to do and all in all it was a really great month.
Looking forward to September!
I went to my second meetup of the month last night. It was a casual dinner at a local Indian restaurant and it went very well. I actually suggested and organised this meetup after I put down a goal of going to 2 meetups this month. There was only a few scheduled so to make sure I could fulfil the quota for adventure for this month I thought I would suggest a dinner!
There was 100% attendance rate which was great! There were 7 of us which was a good number as we didn’t need a massive sized table and we could all still chat.
I am still really enjoying these meetups and I actually brought up last night whether anyone had any ideas of what they wanted to do with the group. Everyone had a few suggestions which was good. So hopefully we can get those things happening and keep the group growing!
We went on our second date of the month last night. I was feeling a bit flush from my recent influx of income so I offered to take us out for dinner on Sunday night. We were going to go to this Italian place that we had often walked past so we made our way down there and of course we hadn’t called to check if they had room for us and the whole place was booked out for a function. So that idea got shot to shit.
Luckily I remembered some people talking about this other Italian place that apparently was really good. It was kind of on the other side of town so I made a point of calling them before we headed over there. They were happy to have us!
It was a lot fancier than I thought it was going to be and the meals were more expensive than at places where we would normally eat, but I thought hey, we’re here, let’s go to town.
So we ordered a delicious sundried tomato and basil ciabatti bread to share for entree which came with a trio of goat’s cheese, sundried tomato and olive oil dips. For main S. had a spinach and fetta ravioli with a tomatoey sauce and I had gnocchi with a three cheese sauce. And we even ordered sides! S. strangely ordered some fries that came with a rosemary aioli. They were very good fries and the aioli was amazing but they certainly did not go with pasta. I ordered sauteed greens with almond butter which were so good.
We even got dessert! Although I couldn’t fit mine in and ended up taking it home. S. got a butterscotch and honeycomb pudding and I got a nutella pizza. Haha, amusingly I ordered a nutella pizza for myself and the table of three next to us ordered one to share between them.
Mmm…well it was another successful date night.
My goal this month was to do weeding/gardening on three separate occasions. I did about an hour’s worth of weeding on Saturday. Once I get out there I don’t mind getting it done and Saturday was an especially good day as it was sunny but cool in the shade.
I went to a meetup on Saturday night at an outdoor cinema. It was pretty awesome actually. The movie that was playing was Snow White and the Huntsman, which I really enjoyed, a very pro-feminist movie. There were actually two movies playing but after the first one finished we were all super cold so decided to leave it at that. It was fun to hang out with everyone as well. We were there about an hour before the movie started so we chatted a bit etc.
I very much enjoyed the whole experience. I would go again and just make sure that I took a lot of blankets and wore plenty of layers. It was so cool to look up every so often and see the stars.
I’ve read online about the benefits of cleaning your face with a combination of olive oil and castor oil and I have decided to give it a go. The idea is that your body produces oils to help cleanse your skin, but then the cosmetic skin products we use strip our faces of those healthy oils and actually block up our pores so that oils can’t come out. So by washing our faces with healthy oils we can return the balance to our skin.
Makes sense to me. So on Tuesday I started the treatment. Like with any new skin care treatment, it’s supposed to get worse before it gets better, so I’m going to take a photo every Tuesday to show my progres.
I’m feeling good about this.
My man and I went on an unplanned date last night. We decided to go to the movies to see “The Dark Knight Rises”. We were planning on having leftovers for dinner but when I went to cook the rest of the rice we had, to go with the frozen curry, I accidentially burnt it into a rice cake in the microwave…So curry aside, we ended up going out for dinner as well.
Unfortunately the burger I ordered was pretty ordinary and after getting popcorn at the movies I felt disappointed in my choices for the evening.
I also fell asleep a few times during the movie…which I had predicted would happen because we were going to the late session. When we were discussing this at home before we left my man said that it’s a pretty action packed movie and he doubted I would fall asleep to which I replied “challenge accepted”.
Anyway…happy date night to all!
I now have two perfectly shaped eyebrows and one bikini ready lower body…and it’s only the 3rd day of the month!
To celebrate I think I should take an adventure to the beach and do some sunbaking and reading. What say you?

Well this seems like an appropriate theme for an August bootcamp, seeing as the month was named for Augustus after he defeated Marc Antony and Cleopatra (yes, I just googled that). This is my first Bootcamp so after reading a few other team members’ goals I have come up with the below for myself.Action
- Get haircut
Beauty appointments Exercise 20 times Read my book, outdoors preferably to soak in the fresh air
- Direction and motivation
- Weed the garden on at least 3 occasions – only did 1
Get back into study routine and crack on to assignments Try new oil washing face method and photograph weekly progress
- 3 dates with my man – went on 2 dates
Attend outdoor movie meetup plus one other
- Spend a few hours at the beach
I need to think about this further and add more in later.
