Travel in a freighter

This was probably one of the coolest travel experiences I’ve had. As part of my overland/sea trip from Europe to Australia a few years back I spent about a week onboard a freighter from Singapore to Sydney. It’s amazing to see everything from close up. As we passed by countless tropical islands in Indonesia the water was so clear that you could see the sand on the bottom, it was awesome! I hung around the bridge many many hours observing everything, asking questions, and tracking our progress on a few maps and a GPS system. You could walk all the way to the bow, sitting up there appreciating the greatness of it all you truly feel like you’re the king of the world.
We stopped in Brisbane as well, I could walk off the boat right into Australia to go for my first taste of VB (gotta do it sometime) without any restrictions, I hadn’t seen a customs official or anything. These boats and harbours are way too busy making sure the world keeps running and that’s awesome to experience. Definetaly worth it!
