i visited home this past weekend to celebrate my lola’s 88th bday. of course i visited with my mom and dad – and was slightly surprised by how old they actually were. as a kid you think that your folks are somehow immortal and that nothing will ever happen to them, and knock on wood, so far nothing has. but this weekend – looking at my pops – and we all joke how he’d outlive all of us (he’s 75) – it just hit me that he wasn’t as invincible. he moves a bit slower and he’s not as clever as he used to be. but he looks like a cute little round ball. i try not to think about it as much, it’s hard not too, but we’re getting older, i realize that our lives won’t ever be the same when he’s not around anymore. : (

my dad turns 75 this year. we’re planning a really swanky bday party for his closest 50 friends in july. i’m so excited!
