Record my songs

Finished recording and got most of the way through mixing. Just a day or two here and there and I’ll be done with my first album, which feels great and I’m quite happy with the result. Of course, next comes the hard part which is the marketing and pavement pounding, but I’m content to bask for a bit yet.

I’ve gotten all the parts recorded in a crazy long drunken weekend. I really like the way it turned out.

Another week and I’ll go back to work on mixing it all down. Still not sure if I can manage to get it all down enough to have an album before I head out sailing for the summer, but I’ll be closer than I’ve been no matter.

Of course, wasn’t able to get this done before summer. But I have the tracks in mind that I want to record and I was able to get John down there to get some of the bass tracks recorded. So I’m still making progress and hopefully if I can get the money together to head down and finish the last few tracks in October, which will just leave mixing down and mastering.

Got two more basic tracks laid down. Things are actually going really quick now when Sid and I get together. It will be a lot more work to get everything I want recorded by Summer before I sail, but I think its possible with how well the last session went.

Going back down to record this weekend, hopefully I can lay down two or three more guitar and vocal tracks. Still roughly on track to be done by summer, but it will require a lot of work. But if I can get my work done and leave it to Sid to mixdown and master and add flavor tracks then I could go for a final mastering session in August and be ready to release it.

Got the basic tracks striped for 3 songs. I’ll be going back down in a couple weeks to get a few more. Its sounding good, I’m excited. Hopefully I’ll have an album worth by Summer.

Got stuck in working too much so that I couldn’t even get downstate. Hopefully over the X-day break I’ll be able to get several tracks laid down though.

Yet again I’m starting over on this project. But I think its a good thing. I’m going to have Sid produce and engineer the thing for me, which takes the pressure off me to do it, and leaves me with just showing up, plugging in and making noises. It should be interesting to see what comes of it. I anticipate some conflict between us, which will probably be good for the project.

My new goal is to have a good start at it by X-day, with completion by March 06, with a stretch of completion by X-day. Given all the other stuff going on, that would be a pretty good accomplishment I think.

Mostly I want to get the stuff recorded cause I think its simmered as much as I can. Now I can send it out, see what people think, and then dive into the next thing, whatever it will be.

I get credit for actually starting. I’ve laid down the basic guitar tracks for two songs. I’ll have to go back in and clean up, add any other instruments I feel like including and do vocals. But I have actually started, which is better than last week.

After looking at the state of things in writing at this moment, I think I’m going to cut it down from 15 tracks to 10. The last 5 I would like to have on there, and they will be eventually, but trying to get them into this recording would allow me to have an excuse to skip recording and go back to writing. And I want to get something at least roughly complete in the next two weeks.

Played for a bunch of people this weekend and got really good responses and even more requests for recording. So I really need to get going and get the album done.
