this term – while I do practice at home, I don’t do it enough so I’m looking forward to a dedicated session each week. Home practice is great for early morning stretches and late evening wind downs, but I really do enjoy being in a class with a good teacher to remind me of the finer points of the postures (it’s amazing how just taking your awareness to a part of your body can see you doing a much more intensive stretch), especially if they have a calming voice and centered attitude – like my old teacher Liz, who was excellent.
I find myself walking out of class with a calmness of mind that makes me feel like the cars are driving slower on the streets, like the noise of the world has been lowered a few notches—I’m highly conscious of the things around me during the oft-taken drive and at the same time it just seems to flow over me…
