Time to open this goal up again as I have changed jobs in the last 6 months and I am now using Java daily.

I am giving up on this one for now. We are moving in the direction of C# and .NET at work. I am going to focus my efforts on a certification in that arena.
I came across a free resource center at Deitel this weekend. They have a lot of information and tutorials for Java.
It looks like I will be able to work on this goal again in the near term. My supervisor came to me yesterday and asked if I would be interested in studying for and then taking the Java 5 certification tests with him. It looks like a few of us are going to do this.
I came across a good site for the Java community that allows you to test your skills before spending the big bucks on the exams.
By the way, I have no affiliation; just a desire to get certified and share what I found.
I have not done any studying lately, because directions changed at work as they tend to do in software development anywhere. I am currently working on a project using C#, so I have not had much time or desire to do any study for the Java certification.
I need to get motivated and pick this up again.
I have been putting off taking the certification test, because I was worried about threading. Well, some work using threading in Java came up at work this past week, so I got to dive into it a little more. It is not too bad, but then again, I did not do anything too major either.
Maybe I need to think about getting that certification again.
I have been reading Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide, 3rd to study for the programmer’s certifcation test. I am currently working through threading.
