do more cross stitch

This one’s getting shelved for now, since I’ve got other projects I want to work on. I do intend to finish the x-stitch I’m working on now, at some point, but after that this goal isn’t helping me so much as giving me more things I “want” to do but don’t have time for.

I haven’t taken time to do any since before the NaNoWriMo madness in November, but I’m going to bring my project with me when DH and I go to my parents’ for the holidays. Hopefully I can finish it then – I’m so close!

Don’t you hate it when you’re stitching from a kit and lose/run out of the floss that came with it? I couldn’t find a DMC equivalent of the shade of brown that came with my kit. Luckily, I had lost the only strand of brown it came with, and it was just a backstitch color anyways. I just bought a skein of something that looked close enough and called it good. It would have been irritating if I had actually started stitching something in the original color, though.

Anyways, I’m almost done! I finished stitching the main section of my pattern, now I just have to do the lettering and the detail work. I don’t think I can finish by Wednesday, but I’ll probably try to finish it by the end of the week.

My project is coming along nicely. I’m trying to get the majority of it finished before NaNoWriMo starts so I’m not distracted from keeping up my word count. I’ll have enough video-game-related and baking-related things to distract me without cross-stitch, too.

After November, I think I’ll tackle something a little more ambitious. I’ll have to keep my eyes out for the perfect pattern.

This is what I picked up at Michael’s yesterday. I’m hoping to have it done fairly quickly for some instant gratifictation. I need some of that these days, with the writing going as badly as it is.

I really should be joining the “Do lots and lots of writing” team if I ever want to get anything finished, but what the hell. I am having fun with the project I just started, and maybe it’ll be a good distraction to keep me away from the computer when I take breaks. It can’t be good for me to work at a computer all day, come home and write at a computer, and take breaks by watching DVDs and playing video games.
